New River Gorge National Park, Fayetteville Trail, Tuesday Morning to Afternoon

After doing some research at the visitor's center (and having to do the 'Are you doing an ableism?' stare accompanied by a pointed, "I know what I'm doing, thanks," at a Park Service employee who had been a little too enthusiastic about pointing out which of the trails were easiest), Don had decided to spend today exploring the Fayetteville Trail and some of the smaller trails that were accessible from it.

"Do you want to talk about it?" he asked the scenic view of the gorge he'd paused to admire for a rest break.

The view? Thor asked, confused, as he manifested from the void at Don's left shoulder.

"Your mom."

I am afraid I don't follow your train of thought. You know, the one that led to abruptly asking Thor about his mother in the middle of a hike.

"I don't know," Don said, and took a drink of his water. "I was thinking about how Odin made me outdoorsy."

Not everything about you is because of me.

"Well," Don said. "I mean. I guess you could argue really it's because of Odin." Thor didn't reply, and when Don looked over he found that he'd disappeared back to the void again. He sighed and looked out at the gorge once more. "It really is a beautiful world, though."

It really is, Thor agreed quietly.

Don took another moment to admire it and drink some more water before he kept going with his hike.

(Open to anyone else out in the woods today!)
